THE GIDEONS  INTERNATIONAL IN THE BRITISH ISLES

Gideons International is an interdenominational and international charity, whose members are Christian professional people or businessmen and their wives.  The Gideons distribute scriptures to Hotels, Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Hostels, and they present New Testaments to Secondary School children and students.  From a request to a 14-year-old boy by his dying mother and the vision of three men in Wisconsin USA in 1899, the Gideon Ministry is now operating in 194 countries of the world and is in over 90 different languages.
If you would like to become a part of this missionary work on your own doorstep and beyond, or for further information about this charity, to join as a Member, to support the work as a ‘Friend of the Gideons’, or if you would like a speaker at a meeting or to conduct a church service, then please contact the Fife West Gideons Chairman, Alan Mentiplay (alanmentiplay@msn.com) or Alan and Sylvia Reedie (sylviaareedie@btinternet.com).  The Fife West Gideons cover the area from Kincardine to Kirkcaldy, including Aberdour and North Queensferry.
Many members of Gillespie Church belong to the Gideons, helping to spread God’s word to people and places where they are needed.  The new Fife West Gideons website is now up and running - click here.

OPEN EVENING

Last year’s Open Evening was on 17th September in the Vine Church, Garvock Hill, Dunfermline, starting with a buffet tea at 6 pm, and from 7 pm an evening of singing, worship and testimonies.  John Middleton talked about his experience working as part of an international Gideons team giving away Scriptures in Madagascar in 2010, and Mr. Hamish MacRae, a gifted International Bible teacher and preacher, also spoke.  Music was provided by Father’s Song (a 35-member Gospel choir) and by Liz Bathgate, an inspirational vocal soloist.
